Which images Aveus: AI Label detects
Aveus: AI Label reads the metadata that AI tools embed in the files they produce. When it recognizes that declaration, the image is labeled automatically; when it does not, you label it in one click. Not every metadata format and not every tool is recognized, so an image without a label is not confirmed to be human-made: you remain responsible for labeling what the app cannot detect.

The signal has to be inside the file. These are the ones the app reads today.

Needs manual labeling
No metadata, no automatic label. One click marks the image, and the badge appears in your storefront once you enable the app embed in your theme editor.

Two labels, one decision
The badge in your storefront reads “✨ AI-generated image” or “✨ AI-modified image”, shortened to “✨ AI” where the image is too narrow for the full text. It is available in English, Spanish and Italian; stores in other languages see it in English.
Your decision always wins: you can mark, unmark or switch the label of any image from the app, and the storefront follows.
Good to know
- Shopify usually keeps the original file you upload, and the app reads that original, so the credentials survive even though Shopify optimizes the copy your visitors see. When that original is not available, the app falls back to the optimized copy, which normally has no metadata left.
- Content Credentials on their own do not mean AI: cameras and photo editors sign real photographs too. The app labels an image only when the metadata declare AI.
- The app never stores or modifies your images. It reads a small part of each file, in memory, and discards it.
